Organizing your way into the NEW YEAR!

There is nothing better than purging the old and starting with a clean slate. Getting rid of the "things" that no longer serve you or your space catapults you towards a very clear path forward. Get rid of the distraction’s.

This can seem like a very daunting task at first but the easiest way to start is by going at it one room at a time. Take your time, and really lean into the task. If it feels like the room is too much, start with a drawer or a closet. Once you start on one task you will quickly snowball into more tasks and even bigger areas. The best part is that as the space around you clears and becomes more intentional - so will your thoughts.

This is a great time to start being intentional with your year ahead. (Do you know how much I LOVE setting goals for the new year?- if you don’t, now you do!) What do you want this year to look like? What are some goals you have for the months to come? GET SPECIFIC. Write it out in a journal with details and how you’d feel once you’ve achieved that goal. If you're more of a visual person- make a vision board.

Along with organizing our mind and our home, it's a great time to start organizing those garden plans. This gets me SO excited! I love planning my garden. I keep a garden journal and have plans from years past I like to revisit while planning. Keeping a journal gives me a chance to see what worked and what didn’t and plan accordingly.

Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds will be sending out their catalog any week now with the launch of their 2026 seeds. It's just like Christmas for all the gardeners out there when that delivery arrives. You don’t have to use any specific brand of seeds. Just try and be intentional with your planting. I like to over plant, with the intention that some of my seedlings will not make it, but to gift to my friends and family. Who doesn’t love a veggie plant FOR FREE?!

This is a great time to start plotting what you plan to plant and how you want to use it. I always start this way. I start by thinking about things I want to eat and things I want to can. It narrows down the extras. I always leave a little room in there for the "wild card" and grow something "fun". We grew Cucamelons two years ago. They are little baby cucumbers the size of grapes that look like little baby watermelons. They were a huge hit with the kids.

I am trying to be very intentional with my gardening this year and I’ve started a list in Google Keep of “Things I want to grow” but have put a little “sub-heading” stating what I want to use that produce for. This has helped with prepping and harvesting as well.

Get intentional with your space, your "wants", and your gardening.
